a Building Project Missions Trip.
The Talibé Boys Ministry
The focus was primarily on the Talibé boys of Dakar. This ministry is
where the love of Christ meets a tremendous need. The Talibé are
young boys from 5 to 20 years of age who have come from all over Senegal to
study under their Koranic teacher. They live without real provisions such as
food, clothing or medicine, begging for what they have. Tad & Jane Hampton
Enter the Hamptons. Tad and Jane began feeding, bathing and caring for
the medical needs of a few of the Talibé out of their home a few years ago. The
numbers grew and since they moved into an apartment at the Beacon of Hope
property, the ministry continues, but now with more focus. The UWM
team saw the Talibé ministry as a significant contact with the community and
wanted to better facilitate this ministry by building a Talibé Ministry
Pavilion. It would be a place for the boys to eat a hot meal out of the
sun or rain, get a shower and be treated for minor medical needs.
Our Mission
Enter the Burr Oak Baptist Team. They received plans for this
structure and an overview for how it fits into the overall purpose of the Beacon
of Hope property. They built the pavilion and made it functional,
helped with other small projects, took prayer walks through the neighborhoods,
spent evenings in the homes of other missionaries and more.
